Chitrangada from Salsa Sequence

From hollywood.com,  As part of a song in next week’s release, Desi Boyz, actor Chitrangda Singh has put on her dancing shoes for a glamorous salsa sequence.

Ask the actor about it and she says, “I really enjoyed it because I’ve always loved dancing. In the salsa musical portion, my outing will be almost like a professional salsa dancer.” She adds, “In fact, I had to train in salsa for a week to perform, otherwise it would have looked fake and clumsy.

Interestingly, designer-stylist Rick Roy had created Chitrangda’s dress for the sequence, overnight. “Yes, it was readied beforehand but it wasn’t looking very good, so I called up Rick and asked him to create a glam dress for me overnight,” she informs.

Although Rick was busy with something else, Chitrangda gave him a couple of references. “And ultimately, he came up with a beautiful dress in dull gold hue. It only adds to the entire salsa experience,” says the actor. “It was quite a heavy dress with lot of metal tassels attached to it, but I felt really good in it,” says Chitrangda with a smile.

The Yeh Saali Zindagi actor is happy that her look in Desi Boyz is completely different from her past films. “I don’t believe in any image because it gets staid to work in similar movies. And as an actor, I would like to experiment with all kind of roles,” says Chitrangda, who is also going to be seen in an item number in filmmaker Shirish Kunder’s Joker.

Jennifer Lopez’s performance American Music Awards 2011

The American Music Awards lack the gravitas of the Grammys and the edgy absurdity of the MTV Video Music Awards. They’re your middle of the road, not terribly important, let’s-chuck-this-on-TV-right-before-Thanksgiving awards show.

But this year’s ceremony, broadcast from L.A. on Sunday night, managed to deliver a handful of bizarre sights, enough to keep us almost mildly interested while we flipped back and forth between the AMAs and the ”Walking Dead.” Almost.

Here are the five weirdest moments from the decidedly bloated three-hour event.

The show’s opening performance teamed Minaj with David Guetta and a set design dominated by speaker imagery. In keeping with that motif, Minaj wore a speaker-themed outfit, complete with faux amplification on her chest and each of her butt cheeks. Call me crazy, but I really can’t see this look going mainstream, even if every office in America institutes Casual, Butt Speaker-Wearing Fridays.

Jennifer Lopez’s performance/Fiat commercial , J. Lo’s rendition of “Papi” essentially recreated her Fiat commercial, even going so far as to bring an actual Fiat onstage to serve as a backdrop while Lopez stripped down to a nude body suit with sparkles that covered all the necessary areas. Personally, I found the gratuitous promotion of Fiat far more offensive than the pseudo-nudity. And I was not alone.

Metallica at Bangalore's Palace Grounds

From bollywood.com,  Metallica's Delhi performance was cancelled at the last moment due to 'technical reasons.' But it was widely believed that the show was canned because the stage setup didn't meet the band's requirements after they inspected it before the performance.

So what's the real story behind the fiasco? "We have already released a statement on the same and would not like to comment beyond that," says drummer Lars Ulrich, when asked.

Two days later on October 30, Metallica finally played to 40,000 delirious fans at Bangalore's Palace Grounds. Says lead vocalist and guitarist James Hetfield, "It was an awesome experience to have played here to a wonderful audience. It was overwhelming to receive lots of love and support from the fans."

Lars adds, "We would love to visit India again. I guess that says it all." Metallica had performed in the country as part of their promotions for their album, Lulu, which was released in September. The band has collaborated with rock singer, Lou Reed on this project.

"Two years ago in Madison Square Garden, the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame was throwing a 25th year celebratory bash. They had actually asked us if we would host a segment. Our job was to find other artistes to perform and collaborate with. On top of that list was an obvious choice, Lou Reed, whom I think is kind of a solo version of Metallica. We've always seen a lot of the band in Lou, and just felt that that was the most obvious place to start," says Lars.

Till date, Lulu, has received the worst critical reception for any Metallica album in recent years. So, do such bad reviews affect the heavy-metal veterans? Says Lars, "We have read a lot of reviews. They were quite interesting, as people haven't focused on what the album really is." James points out, "Anyway the album is very special to us and we had a fantastic experience recording it."

Shakira Shaking Her Hips

Shakira, this is stuff you'd surely want to live 80 years for. A R100cr party that runs for five days, Shakira shaking her hips, a 2.5-crore film made on you, and 500 celebrity guests to cheer you on.

And these are just a few of the highlights from DLF honcho KP Singh's birthday bash in Udaipur, Rajasthan. Held in the middle of lake Pichola at Jagmandir, the fiesta, which started on November 12, ended on Wednesday with a brunch.

But, it was Colombian pop sensation Shakira who stole the limelight as she gyrated to hits such as Hips don't lie, Waka Waka, Whenever Wherever and She Wolf for half an hour at the evening gala on Tuesday night, hosted by actor Kabir Bedi.

"Namashkar," said Shakira before starting. She wore a golden bindi, and said during the gig, "This is the second time I've come to Udaipur and I love it."

She also thanked guests with a "Shukriya" before bowing out. Birthday boy Singh couldn't resist shaking a leg with the beauty. "This is the first time I'm having a party like this and I am going to live long to have more have such celebrations," said Singh, dressed in a jet-black suit.

Pakistani singer Adnan Sami played the piano before the audience chivvied him for his first hit, Lift Kara De. "My God, this song would be a little out of place here but anyways," he said before singing. It is said that Shakira charged R18cr for her act while Sami took home R50 lakh.

Shakira has arrived in Udaipur

From Bollywood.com, Latin pop star Shakira has arrived in Udaipur today and is likely to be one of the many stars to perform at the birthday bash of a real estate tycoon KP Singh on Tuesday, sources said.

Shakira, who is accompanied by her band members, reached the Lake City by a private charted plane around 8.30 p.m on Monday. Hundreds of fans gathered at the airport to meet her, but due to tight security, they had to satisfy themselves with a few glimpses of the star who came dressed in a black jeans and a blue T-shirt.

"As soon as I came to know about Shakira's arrival, I drove 10 kilometers to have a glimpse of her, but I was disappointed when she was taken away like that," said Rajeev Sharma, a fan.

From the airport, she was taken to the Hotel Udaivilas. This is 34-year-old singer's second visit -- she was here in 2007 for a concert.

"She will have lunch at Lake Palace and then will rehearse for the performance at the birthday party of KP Singh," a source told IANS.

Shakira, who was appointed the Goodwill Ambassador of UNICEF in 2003, is also likely to meet teenaged girls in the State Institute for Educational Training and Research (SIERT) on Tuesday. She will speak with the girls on issue concerning them.

The presence of Shakira has caused a sensation in the town, about 405 kilometers from state capital Jaipur, with people trying to see her perform live.

Many top Bollywood stars including Shah Rukh Khan are likely to arrive here by the evening.

The singer is known for Hips don't lie, Waka Waka and She Wolf.
